Maison Nomad Theater

Something about yourself

About

Maison Nomad Theater is a bilingual (French and English), multidisciplinary theater company based in New York.

We create and present original works and repertoire pieces in both French and English, celebrating the richness, diversity, and beauty of each language and the cultures they carry.

At the heart of our work lies the belief that art is a bridge between cultures, generations, and disciplines. Whether staging works from the French- or English speaking canon or developing original, bilingual, physical, and musical pieces, we  invite audiences to experience immersive, emotionally resonant, and inclusive  performances.

Maison Nomad Theater is more than a production company—it is a creative  laboratory and a cultural meeting ground. Through our performances, artist  residencies, educational initiatives, and community programs, we bring together  diverse audiences and uplift the voices of tomorrow. We are committed to showcasing  stories shaped by bilingual and multicultural identities.

Founder

Faustine Kooijmann is a multifaceted Franco-American artist: actress, director, producer, and stand-up comedian. After earning a Master’s degree in Political Science, she chose to fully dedicate herself to her passion for theater and cinema.

In Paris, she trained at the prestigious Studio Pygmalion. On stage, she has performed at the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Les Maths émoi, directed by Muriel Mayette (former director of the Comédie-Française), and at the Théâtre de la Colline in Rumeurs de la ville, directed by Aurélia Guillet. She was recognized as an Emerging Acting Talent at the 65th and 66th Cannes Film Festivals.

In 2015, she moved to Los Angeles to expand her artistic practice. She trained with Jack Waltzer (Actors Studio) and at the Theater of Arts, and completed the professional improv program at Second City Hollywood. Faustine also developed a creative producing career at Evan and Kaisar, where she produced and conceptualized films, series, short films, and music videos. She began performing stand-up comedy in 2016 under the guidance of David Conolly, appearing on iconic Los Angeles stages such as The Comedy Store, Flappers, El Cid, and the Theater of Arts.

Now based in New York, Faustine continues to lead ambitious, multidisciplinary artistic projects. In 2023, she joined L’Atelier Théâtre de NY as a theater instructor. Over the past three years, she has directed four plays, including Tigresse by Gianina Cărbunariu at Theater for the New City and Funérailles d’Hiver by Hanoch Levin at the Chain Theater in NYC. Her work is driven by a strong desire to blend disciplines, create immersive forms, and foster dialogue between French and American cultures through bold, contemporary storytelling.

In parallel, Faustine teaches theater and directs her own original productions with young students from the Lycée Français de New York. With them, she participates each year in the Premières Scènes festival, organized by the Lycée Français, which brings together nearly 50 schools from around the world. Her students have received multiple awards, including the Grand Jury Prize, Festival Grand Prize, Best Acting, and Best Writing awards.
